Chapter 14: The trap of Howlait (4)

The trap of Howlait (4)

I drew the Galaxy Sword.

Howlait opened his eyes at the night blade.

“Is that a Sacred Sword? Are you a wizard? But what is that sword? Over the years, I have seen numerous sacred swords, but I do not remember any as strange as that. Who are you really?

Well, now that the talk is over, let’s begin.

This is the first time the Galaxy Sword is shown. Let’s start with a warm-up and a test cut.

“You, face the humans. I will take care of this.”

“Understood.”

Cat, Sheep, and Wolf began the fight.

Meanwhile, the twisted humanoid creatures here bared their fangs and growled.

There were ten in total. Some had a single eye, and others had multiples, with a dark red surface.

“These are the ‘Lost Numbers,’ experimental bodies known as ‘Incomplete Reinforcement Bodies.’ They were created from children of a superior race in human physical and magical abilities but turned out to be a total failure and the worst possible outcome.”

Once they reach this state, they can no longer return to being human. The only grace that can be granted to them is to be killed.

“Gaaah!”

“I will make this quick and painless for you.”

A tremendous blow was struck with all its might.

I dodged with the most basic movements and cut the torso.

Although they have lost their humanity and are like beasts, they surpass humans in pure combat strength. They have considerable physical and magical defense, making ineffective attacks harmless to them. Of course, this is a problem for others, not for me.

I sliced the head off an approaching enemy. Almost simultaneously, I cut another in two.

I crushed three approaching enemies in an instant.

“This is incredible. They are reinforced monsters, albeit incomplete, but they are much more powerful than humans. Why are they fighting? Why have they not been killed yet?”

“Do you think we are weak? We would not be defeated by the weak in the beginning.”

“W–What?”

Three remain.

It’s time to end this once and for all.

“Dance, shining rocks.”

Countless lights emerge from my coat.

Each one is a small stone fragment dancing in the air, leaving a trail of light.

And Howlait was mesmerized, looking at the light.

“It’s a dazzling glow. I’ve never seen this kind of magic before.”

“Star Magic Stardust. Annihilate the enemy.”

The shining rocks pierce through the three ‘Lost Numbers’ like a laser.

In an instant, their bodies were riddled with holes, turning into a pile of flesh.

The returning shining rocks dance above my head like constellations in the sky.

“It’s the final battle. Why don’t we fight one on one, in a fair and honorable way?”

“F–Fight? Me and you?”

“You’re not able to fight unless it’s a battle you can win?”

“Curse you, don’t mock me!”

Howlait unsheathed his sacred sword.

Its name is [Six-Body Sword]. It is an earth-attribute sacred sword that uses exact copies of itself created from earth as its supreme technique, the Break Sword Art.

Despite being able to use magic, each copy only has one-sixth of the original magical power as a disadvantage. Additionally, it is weak against the water attribute. However, if this disadvantage is ignored, it is an extremely effective technique.

Mounds of earth emerged from the ground, giving rise to five copies of Howlait.

“Even just one of the leaders of the main headquarters of the royal capital, I will not allow a guy like you to defeat us easily.”

The battle resumed.

I intercepted a sword with one of mine, jumped to dodge two coming from the sides, and then evaded rocks thrown by another two with earth magic, while at the same time cutting the approaching rocks in an instant.

“So that’s it, huh? What happened to your earlier attitude?”

“Huh? Ah, I was just thinking for a moment. Carry on.”

“Will you continue to underestimate me like that?!”

His Break Art is really interesting. That’s why I was wondering if it was possible to reproduce it with normal magic. It wouldn’t be possible immediately, but I imagined that with some ingenuity, I could create something quite similar.

Maybe not five, but at least one could make my student life and organization activities much easier.

Or maybe I should just trap this guy and make him do it himself.

No, that’s impossible. He would probably die of embarrassment before doing it.

“It was very instructive. But I will get rid of them because they are getting in my way.”

“N-No!”

In an instant, I cut down the five bodies. The figures crumbled into pieces and turned back into heaps of earth.

“My, my Break Art!”

“This is not a show of gratitude, but I will show you my supreme technique. Rejoice, you will be the first fortunate one to witness it. I do not know what kind of technique it is.”

I released the magic I had been holding back and channeled it into the Galaxy Sword.

The blade shone and seemed to reflect an entire Galaxy.

A blue aura appeared around my body.

“How much magic is this? It’s like facing those individuals—…”

“Galaxy Cut!”

“The rainbow light. Oh, how beauti—! Aaaaaaaahhhh!”

The rainbow flash engulfed Howlait.

A powerful roar and the glare swept everything away, from the back wall to the ceiling, causing debris to fall.

Beyond the large hole, a portion of the forest disappeared in a straight line, along with the earth extending to the horizon.

“Wh–What is this?

If my calculations are correct, it should be equal to or slightly stronger than the protagonist’s secret technique. But… It’s ridiculously powerful! It’s terrifying!

“As expected, Master. We have had the honor of witnessing your power, as isolated and powerful as the sky.”

“We all swear even more loyalty to you.”

“Please, order us anything, Master. We will do anything to stand by your side.”

Three people knelt with their heads bowed.

Behind them, the enemy lay like a ruthless corpse.

I temporarily sheathed the sacred sword.

“We have defeated Howlait. We should retreat immediately, but… In this place, an important weapon for the future will be kept. In fact, that was our true objective.”

“A weapon. What kind…?”

Bam.

The door suddenly swung open, and Dragon, with an enthusiastic attitude, rushed towards us.

“Everyone, look at this! They are common swords!”

“Dragon. I was just saying somethi… What?”

“Yes! They are common swords! There are many! I will even get a sacred sword!”

With her small body, she held several common swords.

In front of Cat’s expectant gaze, who may have already realized what I was referring to, I nodded.

Yes, here at this point, common swords that had deviated from the organization were kept. And we will take the common swords that Howlait had been stealing.

Everything went according to plan.

“Dragon, where are you?”

“Here!!”

“You’re so cruel, why do you always leave without me?”

Bunny, who joined later, wrapped a large number of common swords in a large cloth and carried them on her back. There were easily more than a hundred swords.

For now, we are only five, but eventually there will be more members in the group.

It was urgent to secure the common swords for that future moment.

And this is not over yet. My enemy is powerful; Howlait is nothing more than an insignificant pawn.

Even if I manage to evade my death, the battle with them will not end.

For now, we can only continue to prepare while using all my knowledge of video games.

Suddenly, the fortress begins to shake.

And it was much more intense than the tremor we experienced a moment ago.

“Dragon, how much have you destroyed?”

“It wasn’t me. This time, I held back because the Master is also here. Don’t unfairly accuse me.”

“She’s right, it was probably me.”

“Oh, look, the Master is the culprit!”

This was due to my special attack, the Break Art causing this.

The flash of the sword that Dragon launched was dampened by my Galaxy Cut.

And the trembling grew even stronger.

Holy fu…

I had plans to take the gold coins and jewels that Howlait had accumulated, as well as information about the organization. But now that we have defeated Howlait and obtained the common swords, we are going to let it be this time.

“Retreat.”

“Yes.”

“Agreed.”

“Understood.”

“Gotcha.”

“Yes.”

And so, we all escaped from Fort Omris unscathed, with the expected loot.
